Test Procedure
To ensure accurate results, it’s essential to follow a systematic test procedure.
- Placement of Base Plate
- Begin by placing the base plate or bottom plate at the designated test point.
- Application of Static Loads
- Apply static loads at increments of 5, 15, 25, 50, 75, and 100 kg.
- Record the load at which the rod penetrates the soil, serving as a measure of soil penetration resistance.
- Manual Rotation or Motor Use
- If the screw fails to penetrate the soil layer, manually rotate the handle clockwise or employ a motor for penetration.
- Record the number of half-turns needed to achieve the specified depth.
- Handle Rotation for Soil Penetration
- Rotate the handle to penetrate the rod up to 25 cm.
- Record the number of half revolutions of the screw at that depth.
- Test Termination Conditions
- End the test under certain conditions:
- Large stone obstruction.
- Screw reaching a hard soil layer.
- Penetration depth of 10 m.
